The woman injured her leg at the base of Jim Jim Falls, with CareFlight's medical team called in to reach her.
The CareFlight TopEnd rescue helicopter was tasked shortly after 3.30pm with a doctor and nurse winched down to treat the woman just over an hour later.
The woman and her husband were then winched aboard the helicopter.
CareFlight, who operates the Top End Aeromedical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, airlifted the couple to Royal Darwin Hospital, where they arrived at about 6.30pm.
