Man suffers burns, airlifted to hospital

A man in his early 40s was flown to Darwin this afternoon, after he suffered burns to his face and upper body while handling fuel at a remote station in the Victoria-Daly region.

CareFlight, who operates the Top End Aeromedical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, picked the man up from Adelaide River, where clinic staff had administered initial treatment.

A CareFlight doctor and a flight nurse treated the man on board the Top End rescue helicopter on the way to Royal Darwin Hospital, where he arrived before 3pm in a stable condition.
