Pre-poll voting was opened at 8am at the Katherine shopping centre.
Candidates have been banned from canvassing inside the centre.
The pre-poll centre is open from today until Friday from 8am-5pm.
It is open from Saturday from 9am-5pm.
It opens again on August 21-24 from 8am-5pm and then on Friday open from 8-6pm.
Ballot papers will be issued for all councils, including Roper Gulf and Victoria Daly, from the Katherine centre.
