The independent Scientific Inquiry into Hydraulic Fracturing of Onshore Unconventional Reservoirs in the Northern Territory (the Inquiry) will hold community forums in regional and remote communities starting next week.
The inquiry visited Katherine for two days last week.
- The schedule for the regional and remote community forums is:
- Tuesday, August 22: Mataranka 5pm–7pm (Roper Gulf Regional Council)
- Wednesday, August 23: Daly Waters 10am–noon (Daly Waters Pub)
- Wednesday, August 23: Borroloola 3.30pm–5.30pm (Savannah Way Motel Restaurant)
- Thursday, August 24: Ngukurr 10.30am–12.30pm (Roper Gulf Regional Council Office)
- Friday, August 25: Maningrida 11am – 1pm (Maningrida Town Hall)
The Inquiry will also visit Hermannsburg, Yuendumu, Elliott, Timber Creek, Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala and Gapuwiyak between August 28 and September 1.
The community forums provide an opportunity for people to engage directly with the Inquiry Panel. The forums will also include a short presentation and a discussion session on the Inquiry’s Interim Report released last month.
Individuals, organisations and other stakeholders are welcome to attend. Registration for the community forums is not required.
The Inquiry held public hearings and community meetings in Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine and Tennant Creek between 31 July and 12 August 2017. Video recordings and transcripts of the presentations made at the public hearings will be available to view on the Inquiry’s website soon.
