Season Three of the popular NT Government-sponsored contest begins from October 1.
Tagged fish have started to be released with a red tag marked season 2017-18.
Contest officials also said a tagged barra had been released in local waterways last season but it had not been caught.
The officials refused to say where last year’s barra had been released and are certainly not saying where, or how many tagged barra, will be released here this season.
Only that Katherine will again have at least one tagged fish.
The same as the first two seasons, anglers are chasing one of 101 tagged barra for $2.1 million in cash and prizes.
There are 100 barra with $10,000 prize tags on them as well.
Fishos need to register at milliondollarfish.com.au to take part.
Tagged barra are also being released in Kakadu, Darwin, the Tiwi Islands and Arnhem Land regions.
