CareFlight’s Top End Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Katherine at about 2pm yesterday.
A 45-year-old woman suffered a suspected head injury and broken collarbone in a single vehicle crash on the Victoria Highway, about 90km west of Katherine.
Northern Territory Police and Fire Service crews responded to the incident, and St John Ambulance paramedics treated the woman at the scene and transported her to Katherine Hospital where she was met by a CareFight doctor and flight nurse.
She was airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital, where she arrived in a stable condition at 8.15pm.
Earlier that day CareFlight crews were alerted to a single-vehicle rollover on the Tablelands Highway, about 30km from Cape Crawford.
A 20-year-old man suffered a suspected ankle injury in the crash, and CareFlight tasked a King Air turbo-prop aircraft aircraft to McArthur River Mine airstrip.
Borroloola Clinic staff treated the young man at the scene before he was airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital in the care of a CareFlight doctor and flight nurse.
He arrived at the hospital at 4.30pm in a stable condition.
CareFlight, who operates the Top End Medical Retrieval Service on behalf of the Northern Territory Government, praised the efforts of all medical staff and first responders from Katherine and Borroloola.
