Katherine South Primary School teacher and tour organiser Tim East said seven parents would be going along to support the team.
“The girls are playing in the largest touch football competition in South East Asia, the competition goes for two days and they they will get a chance to do some touring around.
“They are all really excited, we have been planning this trip since December last year and they have been doing a lot of training.”
Mr East said he thought the trip to Singapore would encourage more girls in the school to get involved in sport.
“I have a soft spot for getting girls involved in sport, a lot of the time there is just a big push to get the boys involved and not the girls. A lot of these girls hadn’t really played much sport before .
“Hopefully we can make some partnerships while we are over there, I know we are going to visit at least one school.”
Year Six student Ava Osmotherly said the team had been training hard ahead of their international tour.
“I am really excited,” Ms Osmotherly said.
“I have been playing since the start of last year and I am one of the tour captains so I will help the coach and organise the other girls,” she said.
Joining Ms Osmotherly are 10 other girls, Lilly Bright, Ruby Osmotherly, Falon Hoare, Georgia McWhirter, Isabella Lonergan, Erin Dahl, Chenoa Devlin, Mia Randell, Jescelle Remulla and Jordyn Hohn.
