The eight-hectare lifestyle property on Gorge Road was sold by L.J. Hooker for $1,048,000.
The prospective bed and breakfast featured a three-bedroom Queenslander style home located about seven kilometres from Katherine.
It was owned by well-known former top cop Maurie Burke with wife Maggie.
Gavin and Sally Armstrong from Melbourne are the new owners.
L.J. Hooker sales consultant Kourtney Simpson said it was rare to sell a residential property for more than $1 million in Katherine.
“It’s the sort of price we only get for stations and things like that,” she said.
The main bedroom has an ensuite, walk in robe and a parent's retreat, with the kitchen having a walk in pantry.
The home backs onto the Katherine River.
The property also features two self-contained cabins.
Mr Burke was in charge of local police during the flooding emergency of 1998.
The Burkes bought the property in 1999 and designed and built the house in 2000 and 2001.
“It’s too big for us now, we are too old to look after it all,” Mrs Burke said.
“We plan on traveling around for a while and then we might end up in Darwin,” she said.
