Carols by Candlelight – Saturday, December 9 at the Lindsay Street Complex
Santa Claus is coming to Katherine for a one-night extravaganza of live music and carolling.
Katherine Town Council (KTC) is excited to present the 2017 Carols by Candlelight on December 9.
A massive two-hour show is planned for the community, jam-packed with 20 performances including a live house band.
There will be a kid-friendly sing-along with all the classic songs such as Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Jingle Bells.
There will also be traditional Christmas carols such as Away in a Manger and Hark the Herald Angels Sing.
This year a group of volunteers have put their hearts and souls into making the KTC Carols by Candlelight one of the best events of the year. The festive schedule features the Cantarbillay Kids Choir, the St Joseph's Catholic Choir, the local Heritage Christian Church, St Paul's Anglican Band, a special performance from the Combined Schools Choir and many other community performances.
This feature is sponsored by the following organisation:
“We are hoping to build on the success of the 2016 event with again having a house band bringing a very smooth seamless performance to be enjoyed and sung along too,” event co-ordinator Rosemary Jennings said.
We’d like to see people from all corners of our community joining together in song.”
The festive cheer will begin at 3pm at the Lindsay Street Complex in conjunction with the Katherine Community Markets holding their Big Christmas Market.
Activities will include Santa photos, free kids activities and many food and other community stalls.
“It's going to be an incredible night we're all looking forward to,” Ms Jennings said.
Gates open at 3pm for the markets and the carols kick off at 6.30pm at the Lindsay Street Complex corner of Lindsay and First Streets.
Remember to bring a picnic mat or blanket to enjoy the night.
