And a stop sign is proposed for the notorious Lindsay Street intersection in Katherine Terrace opposite the Visitor Information Centre.
There has already been criticism about opening the planned changes for public comment over the Christmas holidays while many people are away.
Public comment is open now to close on January 25.
Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics says it wants to design a safer intersection at Bicentennial Road and the Stuart Highway.
The department wants to install new traffic lights there.

The lights would improve access to the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Cultural Centre and improve access and safety of movements to and from Bicentennial Road, the department says.

Residents have long complained about the Katherine Terrace-Lindsay Street intersection.
The department wants to extend the median strip there, widen the kerbs to make it safer for pedestrians and replace the Give Way sign at Lindsay Street with a Stop signs.
The intersection won $511,000 in black spot funding earlier in the year.
Three NT regional road ‘black spots’ received funding under the Federal Government’s Black Spot Program’s 2018-19 funding round.
Bus parking would also be moved.
“Feedback will be taken into account in finalising design and works are expected to commence in early 2019,” the department said.
