Since the offer started, the park has been full.
"There is so much to see in Timber Creek that we weren't aware of" said Charlie Pedler who stopped in Timber Creek for a quick break with wife Pat, heard about the free camping and ended up staying three nights.
"We loved gathering with other people in the pool of an afternoon and going down to the creek that runs through the back of the property to see the freshwater crocs that make themselves at home there," Pat said.
Wirib Tourism Park is an important asset for the Gunamu Aboriginal Corporation and having a full park is an effective way of getting tourist dollars to flow directly back the Aboriginal people of the Timber Creek region.
Free camping was an idea of Aboriginal Investment Group who have recently taken over the management of Park on behalf of Gunamu.
"This is such an ideal spot to capture tourists travelling through Northern Australia and this park should be pumping throughout the tourist season. We're looking at ways to make that happen" said AIG CEO Steve Smith.
