Police allege the car was stolen by the 14-year-old in in Alice Springs late yesterday.
Police said around 4pm a vehicle, which was reported as stolen from a home in Yuendumu earlier that day, was seen by police travelling at excessive speeds on route to Alice Springs.
Officers patrolling the northern suburbs sighted the vehicle again and successfully deployed a Tyre Deflation Device.
The occupants of the vehicle abandoned the car near Herbert Heritage Drive and fled into the nearby hills.
Police Patrol Dog Loki and the Police Drone were deployed in the area resulting in the arrest on a 14-year-old boy.
The other occupant of the vehicle, also a 14-year-old boy, remains outstanding.
"It was the quick thinking and rapid deployment of the drone and police dog Loki, which resulted in the swift arrest of one offender and recovery of the stolen property," said Superintendent Jody Nobbs
The youth will appear before the Alice Springs Youth Justice Court today on the following charges;
- Aggravated enter dwelling with intent to commit offence
