KATHERINE doctor PJ Spafford was named the Northern Territory’s GP of the Year, in an awards ceremony held on the weekend.
The award, which is open to all GPs who currently reside and practice in the Northern Territory, recognises outstanding contributions to the health and welfare of the community through general practice.
Dr Spafford (pictured), who worked as a GP in remote areas of the NT for eight years before opening Gorge Health Clinic in Katherine 2.5 years ago, said he was “proud and excited” about his win.
“I love my job,” he said. “I love improving the health of my patients and I love the variety of things we get to deal with.”
