The Bureau of Meteorology said another tropical low is developing in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
The Top End will continue to see an easing of monsoonal conditions over the coming days, with much lower rainfall totals than during the past week.
The flood warnings for the Katherine River at Gorge Road and the Waterhouse River at Beswick, have been finalised, with no further flooding expected at these locations in the short-term.
A moderate flood warning remains current for the Daly River, where the river is expected to remain above the moderate flood level into the weekend, and then fall below the minor flood level mid-next week.
As the focus of the rainfall is shifting towards the Gulf of Carpentaria, the Flood Watch has been contracted to the eastern Carpentaria Coastal Rivers.
A tropical low is developing near the southern coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria, and is expected to move over Gulf waters later this week.
There is a moderate chance of the developing system forming into a tropical cyclone over the weekend.
The Bureau will be monitoring the tropical low around the clock, and will be providing ongoing updates.
It's too early to say which direction the tropical cyclone will move in if it does form in the Gulf of Carpentaria, but Darwin is not under a cyclone threat from the current system in the Gulf.
