She was refused bail and is due to appear before Katherine Local Court this morning.
Serious Crime detectives yesterday investigated the suspicious death of a 42-year-old man in Katherine in the early hours of Mother’s Day.
Detective Senior Sergeant Lee Morgan said the man suffered stab wounds to his chest in what is believed to have been a domestic-related disturbance.
“Detectives have recovered a knife they believe may have been used in the incident,” he said.
The 39-year-old woman was taken into custody on Sunday.
Police were called shortly before 4am.
“The incident occurred on the Victoria Highway in Katherine South, anyone who may have information to offer is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
It is the second Katherine woman to be accused with a stabbing murder this year after a 21-year-old was charged with murder after a February 24 incident at Kalano.
The woman, Anisa Cadell, was charged with the death of a 25-year-old man in Katherine late at night.
Police claim the man had been stabbed in the chest.
Police initially said it did not appear the two people knew each other.
