All players put on a huge display of fine ball skills that would have pleased soccer fans throughout Australia.
Some games were hotly contested and the results show just how hard these games must have been.
Parents and supporters spread encouragement, coaches chewed their nails nervously and refs tried to keep a pace with the speed of the players. Well done to all!
Special trophies were awarded to a number of players in the older divisions.
For Katherine Fruit & Veg, Best and Fairest went to Kirk Grant; Most Improved to Ethan Davies; and Players Player to Jamie Grahek.
For MD Sports, Best and Fairest went to Terry Brown; Most Improved to Clayton Lane and Players Player to Harley Buyers.
For Ibis Style Saints, Best and Fairest went to Iain Sutherland; Most Improved to Hikairo Un-Cookson and Players Player to Eoin McMahon.
For Balton Rex, Best and Fairest went to Madison Hohn and Barry David took out Most Improved and Players Player.
For Subway, Best and Fairest went to Georgi Harley; Most Improved to Sebastion Oniel and Players Player to Kenny Johanssen. Refs Choice for the U13s went to Ryan Hohn. Refs Choice for the U17s went to Abiona Devlin.
While football socks are washed one last time and boots stored away for another year, Katherine Football Club urges all players to keep playing at home, at school and even pester mums and dads to bring them to the field for a friendly kick.
Soccer does not end just because the season’s games are over. The best players are those who live and breathe kicking that round ball all year!
Katherine Football Club wishes to thank all the volunteers who have helped set up and take down fields, who have worked in the canteen, who have washed jerseys and who have bravely put up their hands to coach teams.
Your efforts are noticed and hugely appreciated. Also a very big thank you is extended to all sponsors who have continued to support our club and community sport in Katherine. Until next year.
