A total of 340 trucks were recently checked at the Katherine weighbridge - with good results.
Transport inspectors from the NT Government recently carried out a three-day heavy vehicle compliance and road safety exercise at the Katherine Weighbridge.
Inspectors reported good results “for the most part”.
“Of the 340 vehicles checked for roadworthy compliance, length, width, height, axle weights and the security of load requirements, only 12 breach reports were issued for non-compliance with maximum dimensional and mass limits and 5 defect notices issued for vehicles with roadworthy faults,” a government spokesman said.
“The safety of all road users is an important issue to all of us, especially as we approach the festive season, and exercises of this nature assist in ensuring heavy vehicles are operating safely, without damaging the Territory’s highways and roads.”
