A group of fresh faced police recruits lobbed in Katherine today for their first shift on the beat.

Eight police officers, straight from the academy, have arrived in Katherine to learn to ropes of police duty.
The new team hail from Darwin, Brisbane, Toowoomba and even one from Katherine.
They will stay in Katherine for the next two years as part of Squad 131.
New recruit Andrew Schwede has moved to Katherine from Brisbane.
“We had an induction today and also had a tour of the town,” he said.
“I really liked Edith Falls, we went there the other day.”
Sgt Mia Wilton said the new recruits would equal number rotated away from Katherine as part of normal police operational policy.
“It is a good opportunity for them to come to Katherine and learn, and also to be a part of a small community,” Sgt Wilton said.
“I think they are all keen to get to work.”
