Rape
A teenager has been arrested and charged with the alleged rape of an 18-year-old woman on Christmas Eve.
The 17-year-old boy is accused of raping the woman in a vacant lot behind the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre in the early hours of Christmas Eve.
The teen has been remanded in custody until he appears in Darwin court on January 19.
Hit and run
A 32-year-old man has been remanded in Darwin after allegedly trying to run down his partner on Christmas Eve in Katherine.
“In the early hours of Christmas Eve a sedan drove into a yard in Warlpiri where he drove around the house at speed and collided with his partner before crashing into a fence,” Det. Sen. Sgt Mark Malagorski said.
“On December 30 he was arrested in Darwin travelling on a Greyhound Bus, he was then interviewed arrested and charged.
“He will appear Darwin court on February 28,” he said.
Stabbing
On Christmas day, a 47-year-old man was allegedly stabbed his brother-in-law in Katherine East.
The victim was taken to hospital and the man has been given a notice to appear in Katherine court in late February.
Bashing
Police allege a 41-year-old man was bashed in the head with a guitar on Christmas Day in Yarralin.
The man was flown to Darwin Hospital with life threatening injuries.
A 44-year-old man was arrested a few days later and charged with the assault.
