The new NT Child Health Record, more commonly known as the Yellow Book, will record vaccinations , consultations and include tips for helping child grow at each stage of development.
Where the old Yellow Book was used just for immunisation records, the new edition includes lots of extra information for parents.
Health minister Natasha Fyles said the first years of life are a critical developmental period, and families have the greatest influence during that time.
“This new Yellow Book forms a critical communication tool between health services and parents or carers and acts as a permanent record of a child’s growth and development from birth to five years.
“It makes sense to enable parents and families as the first carers and teachers of our children, to know all about their child’s development, what to expect and how to enrich it, for the best outcomes.
An eHealth component will be progressed as part of the development of a National Child eHealth Record.
