Senator Nigel Scullion is encouraging Territorians to reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who have served our nation on Anzac Day 2018, which marks the 100th anniversary of the last year of the First World War.
Katherine’s day starts at 5am with a Gunfire Breakfast at the Katherine Club, the Dawn Service will be starting at 6am at the new memorial on Railway Terrace.
At 9.40am the March will begin.
Starting from behind the BP, the March is taking on a different route this year along Katherine Terrace, Victoria Highway and finishing up on Railway Terrace.
Tindal’s F/A-18A Hornets will be flying over the 10am service at the memorial at 10.05am, travelling at about 650kmh.
People attending the services in Katherine are asked not to park in Railway Terrace during tomorrow morning's Anzac Service, from between the Shell Service Station to the Victoria Highway turnoff.
In Pine Creek, the Anzac dawn service starts at 6am at the Bogga Young Park followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at the Lazy Lizard Tavern.
And in Mataranka, the Dawn Service will be held at the cenotaph at 6am followed by a gunfire breakfast at the Sport and Recreation Grounds.
Darwin’s 6am Dawn Service is at The Cenotaph (The Esplanade) followed by a 9am march.
In Tennant Creek, the 6am Dawn Service will be at the RSL, with the march starting at 9.30am from the Transit Centre for a 10am service at the RSL.
Senator Scullion said Anzac Day is one of the most important dates of the commemorative calendar.
“In this final year of the Anzac Centenary, it is important to pay tribute to the more than 50,000 Australians who fought in Gallipoli in 1915, where the Anzac legend was born, and those who served with honour in all theatres of war,” he said.
