The local club had the honour of hosting the event, a first since 2010, as well.
Successful riders from Katherine competed and won many of the events across the weekend.
Riders from Darwin, Alice Springs, Litchfield and Noonamah attended the championships to compete in dressage, Prince Philip mounted games, show jumping and a Tetrathlon.
The NT Championships were a chance for riders to qualify for the national competition in Victoria later this year and also to attend the Pony Club Nationals in 2019, in NSW.
The weekend finished up with a Gala Ball and a Presentation evening.
Last year, the championships were held over the long weekend at Freds Pass Reserve in Darwin.
Later in the year, Gypsy Smith, a Katherine local who rode in the championships over the weekend will be heading to the UK to compete in the International Mounted Games.
Club president Renee Parks said she was impressed with the overall level of sportsmanship over the weekend.
“This is the first time Katherine has been able to host the event on our own grounds.
“It was a good opportunity for our riders to compete against other NT clubs on our own turf and even better for us to be able to win the championship,” Ms Parks said.
