It is fitting a F/A-18A Hornet from the Tindal RAAF Base will get the party started in Katherine on Sunday evening.
With the Veronicas, free fireworks and lots more, the RAAF fast-movers didn’t want to be left out.
The Hornet will buzz the Katherine Showgrounds at about 5.45pm.
One of the Hornets from Tindal is also buzzing Mindil Beach in Darwin in support of their Territory Day.
The aircraft will fly at speeds up to 830 kilometres per hour and no lower than 75 metres above ground level, the RAAF advises.
Twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso (The Veronicas) will be the headline act for a free concert at the Katherine showgrounds on Sunday.
They will be supported by Darwin singer-songwriter Caiti Baker and Craig Phillips.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Northern Territory being granted Self-Government in 1978.
The Veronica’s concert, in association with Katherine Town Council, will be on Sunday, July 1 at the showgrounds and entry is from 5.30pm.
There will be a big community fireworks from 8.15pm.
