Nathan Fawkner, on a trip to see his dad in Katherine, spent the day trimming and styling for a good cause.
An experienced barber working at Mr Hackett Luxury Barber in Brisbane, Mr Fawkner said he hoped a haircut would put a smile on someone’s face and provide a confidence boost.
“I know when I feel down and my hair is a bit messy, a haircut makes me feel myself again.
“These guys can come in, have a chat, get fussed over and walk out with a new cut,” he said.
The reactions have been great and it has been a really good chance to chat to the locals

Mr Fawkner said he is keen to make his impromptu barbershop at the Hub a regular set up as he visits his dad every couple of months or so.
“To some it may just be a hair cut, but for some [other] people who might not have had a chance to get a cut, it is a bit of a leg up,” he said.
Katherine Doorways Hub coordinator Harley Dannatt said: “It is great to see people having access to a swish city haircut.”
“People are leaving with big smiles, it has just been brilliant for the Hub,” he said.
“We have been so lucky with people’s time and skills.”
Over the course of the day, Mr Fawkner, had more than 12 visitors to his makeshift barbershop.
The men left groomed, styled, shaved and happy.
“I thought what they do [at the Hub] was really good so I thought I would come down and help.
“People can come here, have a feed, wash their clothes and have a shower, they can do it all, I’ve just added a haircut to that list.
“The reactions have been great and it has been a really good chance to chat to the locals,” he said.
