New Education Minister Selena Uibo today welcomed 38 new teachers who will be taking their places in Territory classrooms when school resumes next week.
Most public schools will begin term three on Tuesday.
“Being a teacher comes with great responsibility and is one of the most rewarding careers you can possibly have,” Ms Uibo, a former teacher, told the new Territory recruits.
The teachers starting their roles in Territory schools range from recent graduates – including four from Charles Darwin University – to those with more than 25 years’ experience.
They come from near and far, with more than half the new cohort from interstate, and there are 12 men among the group.
