Ring ring, wanna buy a printer cartridge?

Almost every week I get a call from a private number wanting me to buy printer cartridges. Every time I ask for our number to be deleted from their list and they say it will happen. Liars.

In church this week our Bible reading told of a husband and wife who lied to promote their reputation and instantly dropped dead.

With all the horrific goings on in the global church it did make me wish this ‘sudden-death’ activity happened again. Wouldn’t it be better if you knew the church had no liars in it? After all it would solve the hypocrites problem!

But think honestly enough and this solution is problematic for our own survival. After all, as prominent atheist Sam Harris observed, we have all been liars.

But there’s good news for the printer cartridge guy, and for you and me. Liars can be forgiven. Jesus died at the hands of liars, but also stretched out his hands in love to these same liars. Fast or slow, lying will destroy us – but the truth about Jesus will set us free.

So I forgive you, printer-cartridge-guy. But would you please stop calling me anyway!
