“Girls are going for a natural effect this year,” Vision Hair Design hairdresser Samantha Batchler said.
“It is all about the soft look.
“Whether it’s a fitted dress or flowy fashion a softly pinned updo is really going to make it,” she said.
Spots at Vision Hair Design for race day hair styling have been booked out for months.
And in the lead up to the big event, the salon has been busy snipping, colouring and conditioning hair, in an effort to ensure hairstyles are on point come race day.
But for those who have missed out on a professional look, the hairdresser with 13 years of experience under her belt, said this year’s style is simple to do at home.
“Curl and pin,” she said.
“It is a bohemian natural effect that you want, and it’s not super difficult to do.
“A couple of years ago it was all about braids, so this year, girls have it really simple,” she said.
Throw in some curls, pin in a fascinator and that is all you need, is the professional advice from one of Katherine’s leading hairdressers.
She said a simple hair style usually works better with millinery wear.
Ms Batchler said she is looking forward to seeing the beautiful hairstyles on race day.
“It is a great day, everyone gets really excited about dressing up, and to be able to take part in making some of these people feel beautiful makes it a really special day for me.
“That is why I love my job,” she said.
Appointments have been filling up fast in Katherine.
Cutting Edge hairdresser, Jo Hersey said that people know they need to get in quick to get a spot leading up to race day.
Reflections hairdresser Natalia Angove has also experienced an influx of clients wanting to get ready for the races.
“It is something people get really excited for, and every year we get lots of people wanting their colour touched up,” she said.
The big annual event is just around the corner.
