For months, getting race ready has preoccupied the experienced milliner’s mind to ensure everyone at the Katherine Cup is styled from head to toe.
“Fascinators are such a big part of the races. Everyone gets really excited about what everyone else is wearing,” she said.
This year demand has been high, with orders for the head pieces starting early to accommodate fashion at the Darwin Races.
“It is a long process, to make each piece, but it is always worth it to see the end result,” she said.
“It always makes me very happy to see my fascinators at the races.”
Following royal fashion trends, which have taken the world by storm, Ms Fahey said centre pieces and flowers are in.
“The style this year is a bit more delicate, and centre pieces are a good way to highlight the hair style,” she said.
Ms Fahey said she has also been making many more blue fascinators this year in honour of Dolly’s Dream.
With the variety store stocking race wear fashion galore, the shop is holding an Instagram competition of its own to highlight race day styles.
