Set with the difficult task of choosing the day’s best dressed, the judges said despite fierce competition, it ultimately came down to bright colours, originality and of course how well the outfit matched.
Rowena McCosker took out first prize for the second year in a row in the Over 30s category.
With an original fascinator from Katherine’s very own Fe’s Variety Store, Ms McCosker said it had to have been the tipping point which pushed the judges her way.
“I did my own hair and make up, but a lot of work went into my dress and fascinator from Fe’s. I think it must have been the main reason I won,” she said.
“I can’t believe I have won two years in a row.”
The two-time winner from Katherine wore hues of blue in honour of Dolly’s Dream.
Annabel Curtain wowed the judges with her summery fashion in the Under 30s category.
Wearing a gracefully flowy dress from Zimmerman, an Ashlee Lauren bespoke headpiece, and heels from Stomp, Ms Curtain said she dressed for the climate.
“I just loved the dress and the bright headpiece made it,” Judge Shayne Wicks said.
“Her outfit was very on trend, she just looked very happy and summery,” he said.
For the gents, it was all about the blue.
Young Anthony Smith was without a doubt the best dressed in the Under 30s category.
Wearing a blue vest adorned with two butterflies, Mr Smith said his outfit was put together in support for Dolly’s Dream.
In the Over 30’s gentlemen Fashions on the Field, it was a surprised Craig Pinkney who came out on top.
“Magnificent, I didn’t think I would win.
“I really think it was the hat, and of course I was wearing a blue shirt for Dolly,” he said.
“Other than that I am dressed in Jimmy Bigg.”
Imogen Weston wearing a Target dress, a blue JoJo bow, and a blue butterfly won the best dressed category out of the youngsters.
And Brynn Atkinson with his self-styled outfit embellished with a dinosaur bow tie and last year’s hat had the judges in awe with his causal yet put-together race wear.
