Great fears are held for the safety of the 67-year-old man from Queensland who has not been heard of since Saturday night.
The man has now been missing for four nights.
Police searched the area of the Edith Falls car park by helicopter yesterday and failed to locate the man.
Today, about 30 police and Parks Rangers took to the ground, again scouring the car park and surrounding area.
Katherine Division Acting Superintendent Mark Malogorski said the senior ranger at Edith Falls first called in a missing persons report at 9am on Tuesday.
“Katherine Police and Park Rangers commenced a search of the local walking tracks soon after the report, and a helicopter was put into the air before lunchtime,” Mr Malogorski said.
“Unfortunately, there were no positive sightings of the man before dark,” he said.
The search recommenced early this morning.
While temperatures are falling below 10 degrees at night, temperatures during the day are rising to a scorching 33 degrees.
The team on the ground made to sure have plenty of water for the search.
It has been confirmed the man has a medical condition which requires medication.
