In Katherine, students took part in a colouring in competition at the Katherine Public Library.
An initiative of the Children's Book Council of Australia, the week aims is to spark a love for reading.
The competition saw children drawing their favourite book characters.
Program coordinator of Katherine Public Library Ms Bala said Children’s Book Week provided a platform for the young artists to get creative, while also challenging cognitive development.
“Drawing can be incorporated into learning in many ways, including reflective thinking, presenting imaginations through pictures, and [it is] also a way of communication,” Ms Bala said.
“We had John Cleary and Tanya Lambert as judges of the competition.
“We are very happy to say Ruby Halls, Abiya Merin Aby and Tahlia Tewavu were the winners of the competition,” Ms Bala said.
The competition was held on Friday, August 24 at 3pm.
