From Minyerri, a small remote community only 240 km south-east of Katherine, Roddy-Anne Joshua had to drive to Ngukurr before catching her flight.
Despite the relatively small distance, flying was the best and easiest option of travel.
Ms Joshua arrived in Katherine after just a short flight, well before she was due to give birth.
She said her two other children, Cazius Joshua, three, and Catalea Joshua, five, could not wait for the new arrival.
New born baby Nicoda Ferrell was finally welcomed into the world yesterday at 11.17am.
The pair will be staying at the Katherine Hospital for a few more days yet, before making the trip home to a very excited family.
