17 Squadron was at the top of their game for Friday night’s rugby league match against 75 Squadron.
Despite much support on both sides, 17 squadron dominated the field taking out the winning title ten to two.
Hundreds of people gathered on the field at Tindal RAAF Base for the annual Jason Ruhan rugby league match.
Played since 2009, the annual competition saw the women’s touch game take place at 6pm.
The men’s 17 Squadron and 75 Squadron then faced off for their winning title.
In 2013, Cpl Jason Ruhan of 75 Squadron lost his battle with lymphoma.
He was a father of three boys, a husband to Kym Ruhan, and a passionate member of the local RAAF community.
Cpl Ruhan was a valued member of the squadron and the annual match is now held in his honour.
Since 2013, the game has been a community event and fundraiser for the Cancer Council NT and a much anticipated day in the RAAF Base Tindal calendar.
