The Crocs proved they were the second best team in the competition with victory over the Katherine Camels on the weekend.
A four goal opening term and a five goal to two second term sealed the deal for the Crocs.
The reformed club will now take on the Big Rivers Worksafe League powerhouse Eastside Blues in the grand final on Saturday evening.
The game is expected to be held from 6pm at Nitmiluk Oval.
Preliminary final scores: Katherine South Crocs 11.5 (71) d Katherine Camels 7. 6 (48).
“Congratulations to this group! 25 games ago and 19 months we were nothing,” the Crocs said on social media on the weekend.
“Now we play in a grand final. We are here to pay tribute to the old tradition of the Crocs in a new way.
“A 23 point win tonight against the Camels. They were gallant but our talent and class was evident and when you throw in ferocious attack on the footy then you have a formidable unit.”
After 12 games of the regular season, it was the Eastside Blues which reigned supreme again.
This powerhouse team already has the league’s record of five flags in a row safely in its keeping and now has the chance to go one better with six grand final wins in a row – something which has also never been done before.
The Blues finished the season unbeaten and saw off their best competition with ease during the regular season.
The Eastside Blues have obviously retained the nucleus of the team from last year which created history with the five flags on the trot.
Interestingly, they took the record from the reconstituted Katherine South Crocs which had won four in succession before going into recess.
Last year they were simply too good for the Katherine Camels in the grand final with their trademark quick starts to their matches.
The Crocs have to stay with the Blues early to have any chance on Saturday night.
