Denny Jones, 48, was reported missing from Burt Creek Outstation, on June 18 last year.
The grisly find allows police to close just one file on a growing number of mysterious disappearances in the NT outback.
Queensland man Alex Rosenberg went missing last month at Edith Falls, near Katherine, and despite an extensive search no trace of him has been found.
As well, suspicion and accusations still fly at Larrimah, two hours drive down the Stuart Highway from Katherine, where Paddy Moriarty went missing, along with his dog Kellie, on December 16.
Mr Moriarty was aged 70, Mr Roseberg aged 67, they wouldn’t have known each other.
Both despite some of the most extensive police searches by land, air and water ever conducted in NT history for the pair – nothing has been found of either.
Mr Jones was last seen in July last year walking from Burt Creek outstation, about 60km north of Alice Springs.
He had refused to get into an ambulance and walked off into bushland towards the Stuart Highway, never to be seen alive again.
An Indigenous man, he was not wearing any shoes when last seen.
Like the others which followed, an extensive land and air search of the area was conducted by police, which failed to locate him.
The investigation was referred to Missing Person Unit.
Just before 3pm on Monday police received a report of human remains being located three kilometres from the Yambah Station homestead.
Forensic officers have confirmed the human remains are those of Mr Jones.
Anyone with any information about the disappearances is asked to contact police on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
