The Bureau of Meteorology says Katherine can expect a 41 degree day on Saturday.
Daily maximum temperatures over the next week are expected to be – 37, 39, 40, 40, 41, 40 and 40.
With humidity rising to more than 50 per cent on Saturday, it should be a scorcher.
The highest October temperature was recorded on October 29, 1991 – a scary 46.2 degrees.
There is no likelihood of rain over the next week.
It has been more than 180 days since it last rained in the town.

This dry season the NT saw above average daytime temperatures and slightly cooler than usual overnight temperatures, with very low rainfall.
Katherine was slightly warmer (0.8 degrees) on average higher maximums and slightly cooler (minus 1.6) on average low minimums.
