Kicking of NT Mental Health Week about 60 people from local services walked from the High Level Bridge to the Lindsay St Complex, along Katherine Terrace.
The march aimed to raise community awareness about mental health services available in Katherine, Red Cross regional manager Bill Daw said.
“We want people to know there is help and support out there for those who need it,” Mr Daw said.
Mr Daw said the march drew a good crowd for the first of its kind in Katherine.
“It is great for the community to come out and march for Mental Health,” he said.
“We know that a lot of people suffer in silence, but this type of event takes away the stigma from mental health issues.
“We want people to know it is okay to talk about mental health and ask for support.”
Organised by the Interagency Mental Health Network, the event kicks off a host of events over NT Mental health week which runs until this Saturday, October 13.
