Katherine support service TeamHEALTH marked World Mental Health day by throwing open its doors to show off its facility and services today.
About 50 people from the Katherine region attended the open day to better understand the support and services available for mental health.
While the mental health organisation has had a steadfast role in Katherine for a number of years, the open day reasserted the support services available for those experiencing mental health issues.
Acting team leader for TeamHEALTH’s child and wellbeing service Katrina Maguire said she is expecting to see an increase in engagement with the service.
“We can help both adults and children to get on the right track if they are experiencing mental health issues,” Ms Maguire said.
“We really wanted to spread the word today that help is available and no one should have to suffer in silence.
“The theme this year ‘Talk, Support and Recover’, and that really captures what we are trying to do.”
The open day was held at the Katherine Family Room where the majority of support work is carried out.
