Ms Pszkit said the morning tea was a good way to start a conversation about the work both paid and unpaid carers take on.
“Unpaid carers do this job 24/7, they don’t get a break, they really are the unsung heroes of this community.
“This morning tea is about recognising all carers in this community,” she said.
She said she hopes people walk away from the event with more knowledge about carers as well as the services available to the community.
“This is a good way for everyone to get together around really good home cooked food and say thank you,” she said.
This year, the morning tea had quite a spread for the Katherine community to enjoy.
Ms Pszkit and her staff spent days cooking cakes, muffins and scones.
“I just love it,” she said, “I love seeing people enjoying food that they don’t usually have in this highly processed world.”
