A baby born at Katherine Hospital this week was an extra special event for Mariah Angus who was born at the same hospital some 20 years ago.
The young new mother gave birth to Ace Alan Angus three weeks earlier than expected on October 23 at 11:24pm.
“The birth was a special moment for me and my mum. I was born in the next room over,” Ms Angus said.
“It has brought back a lot of fond memories for us both,” she said.
Growing up in Katherine, Ms Angus said her first birth has potentially started a new tradition of family members being born at the small hospital.
It is something her new son could potentially experience when he is older and has his own children.
“My mum was really happy we got to share this experience,” she said.
Little baby Ace, less than three days old, has already started meeting the many family members who are all excited to see him.
With six brothers, five sisters, aunts, uncles and a dedicated mother and father, Ms Angus said she and her new son will be spoilt for attention and support.
