Despite the temperatures reaching about 40 degrees, 32 players entered the competition.

On the women’s side, Jenifer Mackie was the A Grade winner.
The day saw golden shots from David Brummitt at the second hole.
Over the course of the day, great golf shots from David Brummitt, Bazz Starke, Colin Stopp and Robert Pead, secured nearest the pins.
“The course superintendent and crew had the course looking good and the greens are quickening,” owner of the 12-month-old Pro Shop Mark Lewis said.
“Support from club members, Katherine golfers and the Katherine Country Club has been great so far this year,” he said.
The Monthly Medal is a year-round competition held on the first Sunday of every month.
Over the year the Katherine Golf Club single-day competition has attracted more and more players, playing for cash prizes.
The golf club’s Wednesday Nine Hole competition is also in full swing with great prizes, Mr Lewis said.
“We have a $1000 hole in one prize sponsored by DPR Insurance Brokers (Mr Dennis Rebbeck), $500 dollar travel voucher sponsored by ISKO Pty Ltd (Mr Sam O’Neil) and the Pro Shop,” Mr Lewis said.
”Members are reminded we have prizes, and a presentation for the winners.
“A big thank you also goes out to the Katherine Country Club for providing snacks for the players after the game,” he said.
Next week sees the eighth round of the Points Chaser Stableford Competition.
