The workshop aims to raise awareness about the seriousness of bullying and its devastating effects.
Organisers Kate and Tick Everett said they are pleased Katherine schools and students will benefit from the workshop Parenting in the Digital World.

“We have had amazing support from the local community that has helped us get through a difficult year. We are really pleased that Katherine schools, teachers and parents will benefit from these workshops that will address the many issues associated with bullying,” Mrs Everett said.
The couple will be at tomorrow’s event along with bullying experts from the national children’s charity, the Alannah and Madeline Foundation.
“The session is designed to support parents to play an active role in their child’s digital world. It includes detailed information on risks and opportunities afforded by technology for young people, with practical tips on how to stay safe,” Mr Everett said.
“The workshop will discuss the latest research and evidence about online behaviours of our kids and also emphasise the importance of open communication and keeping connected with young people, so they are safe, off and online,” he said.
According to the manager of the National Centre Against Bullying, Sandra Craig, it is sometimes difficult for parents to identify if their child is being bullied.
“Bullying is a form of persecution,” Ms Craig said.
“A lot of parents and kids get confused about being targeted once, but single conflicts are not bullying behaviours.
“It becomes bullying when the power imbalance is there and when the behaviour is ongoing.
The bullying expert said it was important for parents and teachers to have open conversations on the topic, and that the workshops provided a good platform for education and discussion.
Golden Guitar winner Tom Curtain will perform his tribute to bullying victim Amy 'Dolly' Everett at the workshop tomorrow night.
The free Parenting in the Digital World workshop is happening on tomorrow night at Knotts Crossing from 7.30pm.
