Supporters rallied together to raise $6000, more than double that of last year.
Organised by the Katherine Motor Vehicle Enthusiast Club, the Toy Run aims to spread festive cheer across the community, as well as provide a helping hand to those doing it tough.
Almost 70 decorated bikes and vintage cars rumbled through the streets of Katherine today collecting toys and donations.
“We have ended up with two packed ute loads of toys plus half a van load,” president of the Katherine Motor Vehicle Enthusiast Club, David Reed said.
“We never expected to raise the amount of money we did.
“The whole day was an absolute success,” he said.
The money raised will be split evenly between St John Ambulance Cadets – a youth organisation of St John Ambulance Australia which aims to teach and develop young people first aid, and Equalitea – a new Katherine cafe which upskills people with disabilities.
The toys will be split between the Katherine Salvation Army and Step Out Community Toy Library, and then distributed to struggling families in the area.
