The NT Government has launched the 2018 Gamba Action Program.
Gamba grass is a highly invasive weed that creates high fuel loads and burns easily - putting lives, property and the environment at risk.
The Gamba Action Program means landholders can collect free herbicide and loan equipment to manage Gamba on their property.
Landholders can contact the Weed Management Branch for spray equipment loans, and can obtain free limited herbicide at:
Katherine Weed Management Depot – 8973 8857
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources can also help landholders plan their approach to controlling and managing Gamba on their property so their efforts aren’t wasted.
Landholders can call 8999 4567 for more information.
Environment and Natural Resources Minister Eva Lawler said: “If we are to effectively manage and stop the spread of Gamba we must all take our responsibility seriously. The government is assisting Top End landholders by providing free herbicide.
“This year’s program will continue the positive progress made last year that resulted in a record 2300 participants obtaining free herbicide.”
