Katherine’s historic Springvale was the scene of many happy occasions over the years.
Perhaps you can help solve one of Springvale’s enduring mysteries.
Many locals have been casting their minds back to the homestead’s glory days under the stewardship of Werner Sarny.
Mr Sarny has sadly decided to the put the NT’s oldest homestead, built from local stone in 1879, and its 30ha grounds on the market hoping it can be re-opened after being closed for four years.
Katherine civil marriage celebrant Nola Sweetman said many people had been married at Springvale over the years.
“It was a great place for weddings, guests could stay there, they had the reception out there,” she said.
“The homestead was a great backdrop for wedding photographs, as were the trees, the river and the pond.”
But Nola has one picture from her precious wedding album which is a mystery she wants help to solve.
We hope to bring other better identified wedding pictures from Nola’s photo albums early next year.
