The scholarships are worth $5000 a year for each year of a recipient’s chosen degree.
To be eligible, applicants need to have finished year 12 in 2017 or 2018, have completed the NT Certificate of Education and Training or equivalent and received an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank above 80, be an NT resident and be enrolled to study in their first undergraduate degree in the NT, be enrolled to study full-time, be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and not be working full-time.
Scholarships are also available to NT school leavers who will study interstate because their course is not offered in the Territory and whose degree will qualify them for employment in a field listed on the NT Skilled Occupation Priority List.
Acting Minister for Education, Natasha Fyles said they were ensuring local people could take up skilled job opportunities in the Territory.
“We want to help stem the brain drain by keeping our best and brightest here in the Territory, to give them the training they need to get good jobs, and to keep them here for the long term,” Ms Fyles said.
“Our government is investing in all areas of education and training, from early childhood through to school years; apprenticeships and traineeships and higher learning.”
Applications close on March 8, 2019.
