The ‘No Woman Left Behind Conference’ will take place at the Darwin Entertainment Centre on Friday March 8, 2019 in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The conference provides an opportunity to hear from inspirational women such as special guest speaker Taryn Brumfitt – an Australian writer and film director from Adelaide, best known for the 2016 film Embrace. Ms Brumfitt also founded the Body Image Movement “on a quest to end the global body-hating epidemic.”
And the 2018 NAIDOC Person of the Year, June Oscar AO, who is a strong advocate for Indigenous Australian languages, social justice, women’s issues, and has worked tirelessly to reduce Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.

Conference Coordinator, Rebecca Forrest, said it was important to be able to make the conference accessible to Territory women, and men.
“These days, conferences fees are thousands of dollars, often interstate and targeted at senior managers. [The conference] offers free childcare, payment plans and a full day delegate fee of only $300, or organisations can send 10 or more people for $250 each. [This means] more Territorians will have the opportunity to engage and hear from inspirational people from across the globe,” Ms Forrest said.
“Supporting young people is invaluable to the future strength of our community so, 40 places have been allocated free of charge to young women, and men, with a self determination and empowerment workshop developed specifically for them by local Aboriginal Woman and Engagement Leader, Tanyah Nasir,” she said.
Men are not excluded from the event with a specific Male Champions of Change panel session, male facilitators and a dad involved in the ‘Mums the Word’ panel, Ms Forrest said.
“International Women’s Day shouldn’t be anti men. We will only achieve equality if we are inclusive and men are encouraged to join the conversations and share their views,” Ms Forrest said.
Tickets can be purchased for $300 via the website.
