Australia Day falls this year on Saturday, with the public holiday to follow on the Monday.
Schools are back next week as well.
Bridie is the guest speaker at the Katherine Australia Day ceremony, being held again at the Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre, from 9-11am.
It is a free event of inspiration and entertainment.
Presentations will be made to the citizen of the year, young citizen of the year and community event of the year.

Bridie was awarded NT Young Australian of the Year in 2017.
She traveled around Darwin each day for a month, and raised $27,000 for the Living Foundation. Determined to raise awareness and funds to support the one in four Australians who will suffer from mental illness during their lives.
Bridie wants others to know that speaking up and out is not weak.
Presentations will be made to the citizen of the year, young citizen of the year and community event of the year.
The Katherine Club will host its annual Australia Day barbecue, kicking off at 7.30am with a watermelon eating contest, music, face painting and fire and emergency vehicles on display.
The Katherine Country Club will also be hosting celebrations including eating competitions, toad racing, music, meat tray raffles and a waterslide from 11.30am to 3pm.
As well as the local events, there will be great interest in the awarding of national Australia Day awards in Canberra.
Kate and Tick Everett were last year named the NT’s Local Heroes winner for 2019.
Former Essendon footballer Michael Long was named the NT’s Australian of the Year.
The NT’s Senior Australian of the Year is Charlie King OAM.
The NT Young Australian of the Year is fast emerging rapper Danzal Baker.
