Following a hot and sticky couple of days, residents are welcoming the stormy change.
The rain has also brought a cool change to the town.
While the downpour hasn’t hit monsoon magnitude, more rain is expected later in the week with the development of a tropical cyclone over the Gulf of Carpentaria.
The late start to to the wet season has kept residents on their toes, and weather has been a hot topic of late.
Thunderstorms are expected to continue for the rest of the week with temperatures reaching up to 34 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday.
