Despite the hot and humid weather, Katherine residents got among the Australia Day celebrations this afternoon.
The packed Country Club was kept entertained with an array of games, competitions and music.
Hungry competitors attempted to beat each other to the punch and down two jam-packed hot dogs, three pies and a bucket of chicken – in the fastest possible time.
The ginormous meal was a feat and most didn’t finish.
Children also had the chance to eat their hearts out with a watermelon eating competition.

Katherine residents were kept busy today with a line-up of events starting with an early morning charity breakfast at the Katherine Club, from there the Citizens of the Year were announced at Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre.
Katherine’s newest Australian citizens were also celebrated at the Katherine Town Council’s award ceremony.
